Norman J. Cabral, 76, of Rehoboth, MA, formerly of Providence, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Rachel S. (Mansuetti) Cabral. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John and Agnes (Chaves) Cabral.
He had owned and operated the former Norman’s Pharmacy on Smith Hill for 25 years. A Past President of the RI Pharmaceutical Association, he was the original editor of the RI Pharmacist Magazine and while editor, received the A.H Robins Award and the Presidents Award. He also served as a Choir member at St. Andrew the Apostle Church. Norman had a kind and generous nature and was known for telling funny stories.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Peter J. Cabral and Lawrence C. Cabral and two nephews, Daniel and Matthew Gordon. He was the brother of the late John Cabral.
Visitation Saturday morning from 8 to 10 a.m., in the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christial Burial at 11 a.m. in St Andrew the Apostle Church, 261 Tremont St., Taunton, MA. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to American Heart Association, 222 Richmond St., Providence, RI 02903.
