Pasquale Camastro

December 17, 1944 — November 7, 2024

Pasquale Camastro, 79, of North Smithfield, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Luciana Edda (L’Europa) Camastro. Born in Sora, Italy, he was the son of the late Paolo and Maria (Alonzi) Camastro.

A loving and devoted father and grandfather, he is survived by his son, Paolo Camastro; his daughters, Lisa Piccirillo (Luigi) and Angela Fornelos; eight grandchildren, Samantha, Joseph and Evan Piccirillo, Pasquale, Alessandra and Valentina Camastro, and Gabriella and Hannah Fornelos; his siblings, Antonio Camastro (Lina) and Bruna Petitti (Antonio); and his sister-in-law, Maria Camastro. He was the brother of the late Sandro and Mauro Camastro.

Pasquale left Italy for Toronto, Canada in 1967. It was there, in 1971, that he first met his wife of 51 years while she was visiting family. After a long-distance romance, he emigrated to America when they married in 1973.

A skilled cabinet maker, he worked at William Bloom & Sons and was a member of Local 94 Carpenters Union. Pasquale was a member of the RI Boccia League and was a part of the 2017 North Division Championship team. He was an avid gardener and was known for his large vegetable and fruit garden and for raising chickens and rabbits. He also enjoyed fishing and ice fishing; he loved taking his children and other family members early morning fishing in Galilee, with a stop at Snoopy’s Diner for breakfast first. He loved animals and they always were drawn to him too. But most of all, Pasquale received so much joy from being around his grandchildren and attending all of their sport and school activities.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 9 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, 472 Atwells Ave., Providence. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 4 - 7 pm.
