Paul Speakman, 72, of North Providence passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Paul is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathleen (Farrell), two sons, Christopher (Lis) grandchildren, Oliver and Liliana; and Benjamin (Diana), grandchildren, Anden, Lana, Adrian and Luka; three sisters, Irene, Mary (Zan) and Rita, one brother Charles (Dorothy) and his in-laws, Michael (Cynthia), Diane (Gerald) and Lynn.
He was predeceased by his parents, C Herbert and Therese Speakman and his brother, Nicholas.
Paul was a dedicated chef at Roger Williams General Hospital for 47 years until his retirement. Never missing a day of work even if it meant riding his bicycle in a snowstorm. He was a loving father who attended all sports events that his sons were involved in. Paul enjoyed ski trips, golf games and playing soccer with his sons. In his younger years, he was a black belt in karate, a runner, biker, fisherman, and skier. In his later years, he enjoyed playing soccer, golf and an occasional trip to the casino.
Big Papa as he was affectionately known by our family, was a quiet man who lived his life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.
His funeral will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Ave, Johnston. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.
