AMORIGGI, PETER M., 84, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2006 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence. He was the husband of Elena (Pezzi) Amoriggi.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Pietro and Giovannina (Miale) Amoriggi.
Peter was the co-owner of the former Amoriggi Seafood of Johnston for 40 years.
He served on the Board of directors of the North Providence/Johnston Boys Club and was on the Father’s Council at Salve Regina University. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Council of the Knights of Columbus, the Parish Council of St. Lawrence Church, St. Patrick Soup Kitchen and was a parishioner of St. Pius Church. During WWII, he served in the United States Air Force.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Peter M. Amoriggi, Jr. and Kenneth J. Amoriggi; two daughters, Linda A. Melis and Karen A. Amaral; two brothers Anthony and Louis Amoriggi; a sister Claire Arpin and seven grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Cosmo and Joseph Amoriggi, Mary McGroin and Rose Greene.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday at 10am in St. Pius Church, Eaton St., Providence. Visiting hours respectfully omitted. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Patrick Church, Mary House Meal Kitchen, 17 Washburn St., Providence, R.I. 02908.
