Randell Patrick Masterson

MASTERSON, RANDELL PATRICK, 40, of Woodstock, Connecticut, died unexpectedly at home on February 10, 2006.
He was the most beloved son and friend of Dianna (Groves) Masterson of Woodstock, Connecticut and Leonard Masterson of Hope, Rhode Island. Born in Warwick, he resided in Providence before moving to Connecticut.
A retired Providence Police Officer, Randy graduated from Moses Brown in 1984 and attended Boston University. He was a graduate of the Municipal and Providence Police Academies. He was the recipient of the Police Chief’s Award among numerous distinctions and honors.
Randy’s generosity and giving nature was evident throughout his life. He will be forever remembered for his thoughtfulness and loyalty to his family and friends. “He was their keeper.”

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his beloved paternal grandmother, Stella Masterson, his loving and favorite Aunt Candice Patenaude, aunts and uncles Thomas and Judy Masterson, Carol and Bob Forcier, Darlene and Paul Lemoi, and Ralph Groves. Randy’s most beloved cousin and best friend Lettie Lemoi, and cousins Dean Forcier, Christopher and Jennifer Patenaude, Titan, Chadsie and Saul Lemoi. He was the grandson of the late Edward Masterson, Nana Alice, lost in 1985 and Papa Ralph Groves, Sr.
Randy leaves many loyal, trusted and tested friends, especially his mentor John Harwood. Whenever Randy had dinner with Johnny, or hung up the phone he would say, “Mom after being with the Coach or talking to him, I just know everything will be OK. He is always there for me. The Coach always makes me feel safe.” His friends Jim Brady, Steven Patrella, Russell Raskin, Stuart Carlson, Edward Calcagni, David Mannochio, Ricky and Clark Donatelli, Casey and Shawn Moffett, Brian Quirk, Jim Drew, A.J. Matteo, Ted McDonough, Al Pitman, Mindy Fisher-Penney, Sloan Sherman, a very special Rebecca Spooner, Keith and Elaine Knowlton, Paul and Debra Miraglia, Louise Gagliano, George and Eileen DiCola, Art and Vanessa Sullivan and Felix and Jo Vickers.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, February 18, at 10:00 am from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence with a memorial service to follow at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and the Providence Animal Rescue League, 34 Elbow St., Providence, R.I. 02903.
