Richard L. (Dick) Brassard, 89, of North Providence passed away peacefully on November 1st, 2023. Born and raised in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Alfred and Theresa (Blanchard) Brassard. He was the beloved husband of the late Joyce Motte Brassard for over 60 years.
He was a graduate of Pawtucket West High School and was a member of the basketball and track teams. He attended Rhode Island College of Education where he met Joyce and received his Bachelor’s in Education and Master’s Degree in School Administration. While at RIC he lettered on the Men’s Basketball and Soccer Teams.
He served 37 years in the North Attleboro School Department as teacher, principal and finally retiring as Director of Instructional Services in 1993.
He was long term communicant of St. Augustine Church, Providence, where he volunteered in many capacities including as a lector and two years as Parish Council President.
He was an avid fan of all local sports teams, as well as supporting his children and grandchildren in their sports, dance, and many other activities.
Dick is survived by his four children, his daughters, Lynn Wilkins (John), Kristen Chamberlain (Scott), his sons, Richard Brassard (Elizabeth), Andrew Brassard (Amy) and his grandchildren, Brendan Wilkins (Emily), Megan Wilkins (Jack), Alison Chamberlain, Elyse Brassard, Leah Brassard, Gavin Perry, and Isla Perry. He is also predeceased by his brothers Alfred Brassard, Robert Brassard, and sister Jacqueline Soucy.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, November 6th at 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. in the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland, R.I. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dick’s name to charities of your choice.
