Robert H. Harris

Robert H. Harris, 84, of Providence, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 9, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.  He was the beloved husband of Linda R. (Ciolfi) Harris for 61 years.  Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Harold and Anne (Fatula) Harris. Bob worked for Continental Trailways and RIPTA for many years before retiring.  He was a Navy Veteran and an avid sports fan.  He especially loved New England Sports Teams, and his favorite College basketball team was the Duke Blue Devils.  Bob enjoyed playing hi lo jack, pool and ping pong, and always warned his opponents that he was "undefeated." In addition to his wife, he is survived by his five children: Laura Harris, Jean Congdon and her husband Walter, Robert Harris and his wife Michelle, Carolyn Pires, and Christine Howe and her husband Patrick. He is also survived by three brothers: James, Tom and Jerome Harris; three sisters: Joan Mest, Donna Iafrate and Pat Harris; and eight grandchildren: Callie Ponder, Michael St. Laurent, Alyssa May, Ryan Harris, Mia Rose Pires, Dylan Pires, Patrick Howe and Courtney Howe.  He was the brother of the late Peter Harris, Arlene Harris and Barbara Myers. His funeral will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 10 a.m. from the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Ave., Providence.  Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m.
