Rose Marie E. Fontaine, 89, of Providence, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Elmwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward G. Fontaine. Rose Marie was the daughter of the late Augustine and Laura (Breault) Beausejour.
Mrs. Fontaine was a manufacturer at Mine Safety Appliances, for many years. Rose Marie enjoyed crocheting and sewing, especially “mémère blankets” for her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.
She is survived by her children, Lauraine Ouellette and her husband Robert, Susan Jennison and her husband Keith, Michelle Perry, Jacqueline Rose and her husband Michael, Edward Fontaine and his wife Wendy, Sheryl Randle and her husband James, her sister, Rita Griffith, fifteen grandchildren and twelve great - grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Cynthia Powers, sister of the late Richard, Robert and Gerald Beausejour, Cecile Nault, Alma LaRoche, Jeanette Hutnak, Laurette Audet, Agnes Rabczak and Bernadette Reed. Rose Marie was the mother-in-law of Walter Powers and the late Alvin Perry.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home,1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 84 Exeter Rd., Exeter. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rose Marie’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Rhode Island, 245 Waterman St #306, Providence, RI 02906.
