Rose Mistowski, 96 of Johnston passed away peacefully on October 12, 2024 at Cherry Hill Manor, just 18 days shy of her 97th birthday. Born Rosina Alexandria Quaranto on October 30, 1922 to Italian immigrant parents Angelo and Mitilda (Salone) Quaranto. She was the beloved wife for 69 years to the late Leo Mistowski.
The youngest of five, she was predeceased by the late Amadeo, Antonio (Bob) and Henry Quaranto and Mary (Lena) Milano. The family grew up in the Federal Hill section of Providence.
Rose was the loving mother of Joseph (wife Harriet) and John Mistowski. The affectionate grandmother to Paula Jo, Jonathan, and Thomas Mistowski and Leia Frenia (husband Taylor Frenia). She was the great grandmother to adorable Bryson Frenia. Rose also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.
Rose started her work experience employed at Atlantic Mills, then worked as a professional hairdresser for many years. She later took a position at GE Providence Base Works, proudly working there for 25 years before retiring at age 60.
Rose and her husband Leo enjoyed their retirement years wintering in Bradenton, Florida for over 25 years. Rose enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, golfing, baking, cooking, knitting and crocheting. Rose would always light up telling stories of days past and especially of her many trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun where she loved to play slots and bingo. She was also a big fan of the New England Patriots (Tom Brady) and the Connecticut Women’s basketball team.
Rose’s ultimate love came from the time she spent with her family. Her compassion, strength and selflessness made her such an amazing and loving person. Her greatest joys were the love of her family and the love of God.
A very special thank you and ultimate gratitude to the staff at the Cherry Hill Manor and to her grandniece, Alicia, for the compassion and professionalism in caring for our beloved Mother Rose.
