RUDOLPH J.“RUDY” DeVITO, 83, of Providence, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2006 at the home of his beloved brother, William DeVito. He was the loving husband of the late Anna (Colafrancesco) DeVito. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Jennie (Borecca) DeVito.
Rudy had owned and operated the former A&G Jewelry of Providence. He was a Providence City Council Member representing Ward 13. An Army Veteran of WWII, he was a member of the G. Folcarelli Providence Chapter #1 of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion Post 2007 and Salvatore Mancini Lodge # 2440. He was also Sergeant of Arms for Manton Seniors of Johnston, a member of the Manton Seniors Bowling League, the Johnston Community Bowling League, the Salvatore Mancini Senior Center and was a longtime communicant of St. Augustine Church.
Besides his brother William, he leaves a son, Rudolph A. DeVito and his wife Lois; a brother, Ralph DeVito, two grandchildren, Steven and Francesca DeVito and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joseph DeVito, Louis “Sparky” DeVito, Louise Spiridigliozzi and Gloria Cantagallo.
The funeral will be held Monday at 9am, from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Augustine Church, Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. VISITATION, Sunday 4-8pm. Entombment with Military Honors will be in Our Risen Christ Mausoleum, St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
