SALVATORE J. CAMPANELLI, 87, of Providence, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Steere House in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Filomena (Calcagni) Campanelli. A lifelong resident of Providence, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Marie (Capuano) Campanelli.
Salvatore worked as a foreman for the former Bradley Seed Store of Providence for over 20 years. He also worked for Calcagni Construction Co. for 8 years, until retiring in 1980. He was a Veteran of WWII serving with the Army Signal Corps and was stationed in China, Burma and India. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Besides his wife of 60 years, he is survived by a son, Joseph S. Campanelli; two daughters, Irene C. Saccoccio and Judith A. O’Brien; three sisters, Mary Pontrelli, Regina Flynn and Terry Murphy, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Matthew Campanelli.
VISITATION at the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, Thursday morning 8-9am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Blessed Sacrament Church, Academy Ave., Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Steere House, 100 Borden St., Providence, RI 02903.
