SALVATORE R. VALVO “UNCLE TUT”, 90, a resident of Johnston for the past 44 years, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2007. He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine ( Langella) Valvo who had preceded him in death November of 2006. They had been married for 67 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Giuseppina (Maddona) Valvo-Stero and the step-son of the late Flavio Stero.
Salvatore had worked as a meat manager for the former First National Super Markets for 30 years. He was a member and Past President of the Retirees Union, Local 328 of Rhode Island. He was also an avid boxing fan and Yankee fan. A loving husband and father and a devoted grandfather and great grandfather, he leaves two daughters, Jo-Ann Calvino and her husband John Calvino and Linda Alessandrini and her husband Edward Alessandrini; three grandsons, John Calvino, Christopher Calvino and Dr. Edward Alessandrini and five great grandchildren. He was the beloved grandfather of the late Robert J. Calvino and the brother of the late Anna Schiano.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at 10am in St. Rocco Church, Atwood Ave., Johnston. Visiting hours respectfully omitted. Burial will follow in St Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
