Valerie (Leonardo) DiCostanzo, 69, of Providence, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 26, 2022. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Paul “Blondie” and Marie (Cinieri) Leonardo and was the sister of the late Paul A. Leonardo, Jr.
She is survived by her nurturing daughter, Allie Maria DiCostanzo and her husband Nicholas Bagley, her two adoring grandchildren, Charles and Lucelia Bagley, her devoted daughter, Shanita Upshaw, and many loving friends and family.
Val was a ray of sunshine, a fire ball that brightened and livened any room she walked into. She filled many roles throughout her life including sister, daughter, cousin, mother, Nona, friend, sales and marketing genius, caregiver, confidant, and life of the party to name a few.
Anyone that knew her knew she would give you the shirt off of her back. She always saw the best in those around her and did everything to empower those to believe in themselves. Nothing in her life was dull, bland, or uninspiring.
Val lived passionately, in many ways, giving all that she did 150% of herself. She struggled with pain and disease that many of us falter to understand. Forgiveness, understanding, support, and love were her best qualities to offer and, in turn, what she has always and will always deserve.
Our family, and Val directly, request that you take risks, celebrate even life’s smallest beauties, and love yourself wholly and unconditionally in her honor.
A Celebration of Valerie’s Life will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 6 p.m. in the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence.
