Victor Filippi,Sr., 86, of North Providence, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Kent Hospital in Warwick. He was the beloved husband of Janice J.( Boissy) Filippi. Born in North Providence, he was the son of the late Pietro and Teresa (DiPierro) Filippi.
Over his working career, Victor had owned and operated several Restaurants and Night Clubs in Providence. He was co-operator for many years of Lincoln Downs Track Kitchen along with his brother Raymond. He also owned and operated Champlins Marina on Block Island from 1962 until retiring in 1987. He was a Coast Guard Veteran of WWII. Throughout his life he was an avid fisherman and boater who loved the ocean. He also enjoyed gardening.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Paul A. Baptista and Victor Filippi, Jr.; a daughter, Marcia A. Crites; a grandson, Christopher Scalzitti; a great granddaughter, Isabella Theresa Scalzitti; a brother Peter Filippi and a sister Marie Ambrosia. He was the brother of the late Ben, Paul, Alfred and Raymond Filippi, Madeline Dubois and Nancy Meloche.
The funeral will be held Monday at 8am, from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am in St. Thomas Church, Fruit Hill Ave., Providence. VISITATION Sunday 4-7pm. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Wakefield.
